I'm blaming it on my period. That's all there is to it.
Oh my gosh, I was so sore yesterday! My cardio/sculpt workout on Monday tore me up. All I could bring myself to do yesterday was some very low key stretching. Like 10 minutes worth.
I have these fabulous varicose veins, and since I'm on my period, they're SCREAMING at me. They didn't help matters yesterday. Thank goodness, I thought to wear some compression hose to work last night. I think I would have been dying otherwise.
To top it off, I have thrown all caution to the wind when it comes to making good food choices. I had like, two cups of chocoalte nut crunch popcorn for breakfast yesterday. Actually it was more of a morning snack-I skipped breakfast. I made a special trip to the store JUST for a Pepsi. Thank gosh the food selections at work sucked last night. I made myself a turkey sandwich. I think that's the only thing that saved me from going over on my calories. But let me tell ya', I 've got my calories goal set pretty high, so that's not really saying much. I'm only aiming for a half a pound per week weight loss goal.
So, I managed 18 points yesterday, thanks to my high calorie goal. I think I should lower it, because I'm not even losing that half pound a week right now.
Haven't got my workout in yet today, and breakfast has consisted of a Pepsi and half a donut. Looks like I'm off to another spectacularly unsuccessful day.

Yes, the secret in reaching goals is to set what you can reach with a little effort. It should not be a huge effort. Then when you have reached your goal the next step is to make it permanent. Then you can set a new goal.
Beside from what I see around me it looks like it is nearly impossible to reach a goal in the field of food if your environment is not on the same page.
I think that the smart thing would to put the whole family on a diet without their notice :P
There are hundreds ways to make eating habits healthier without making it boring or close to disgusting. I don't know what they are like in the US but I KNOW you could make them up because even if eating habits are different in the US and in France we do have junk food. We do have "food traps" like you do.
How old is your oldest daughter? I bet you could talk her into helping you out. It is not so much about losing weight as it is to get healthier. This way you could have a support at home which I think would help you more than having us here. I love you (er...as much as I can) but the internet is too virtual for a good healthy start I think sometimes.
As I have said previously it is MUCH easier for me since I am single with no kids begging for fun food. I don't know if I'd be capable of doing it if I had little ones.
I think that Khourt could help you with ideas much more effective than mine since (I think) you live in the same state and therefore knows better than me what is available and what is not. Plus she does have little ones who can be a pain when it comes to be strong concerning food.
You're so right Gwennaelle, I have easy access to way to many poor food choices. I need to put the whole house on a diet. Then I need to have my husband take any cash as well as all my debit/credit cards to work with him so I can't go out and buy myself a treat when I get the urge! lol

Or maybe what you need is to get really sick so you are eventually enough motivated....wait...this is no fun :P
I may be intolerant to gluten. Since I have stopped eating anything that may contain gluten I feel both better in my body and in my mind since I don't have to worry about my body. This is also why I have a easier time exercising. When I am craving a pizza I remember how my body reacts to it and all of a sudden the pizza is a lot less appealing.
I have not been tested for it yet but considering how my body is reacting I tend to believe I am definitely on something concerning gluten.
I was just thinking yesterday... Its so hard living with my mother now because her idea of buying "snacks" is buying 10 boxes of Hostess or Little Debbie snacks. And well, if you know me then you know that I cant refuse little individually wrapped snack cakes, but then I end up eating 3 or 4 a day! And those little calories add up. Its ok to cheat and have stuff like that, but I think it needs to be taken away so that I have to go out of my way to buy it. For me, if I have healthy snacks then I try to eat those first because they tend to go bad first (spoiled grapes, bananas, etc) and I *hate* wasting food or money so this works well, but when there are many other people making decisions then it gets tough. I like the idea of the whole house changing their eating habits. And make it where they are none the wiser.
Also I read in an article a day or so ago about ALWAYS having healthy alternatives on hand. Think of 1 or 2 things that are super easy to fix as a meal (breakfast/lunch/and dinner) and snacks and then make sure you always have those ingredients on hand. That way they become igrained in your mind as quick go-to meals.

Gwennaelle, I've wondered about the gluten thing occasionally. I dont' think I'm allergic to it, but you never know right? I mean you get used to reacting a certain way and perhaps you don't even realize that it's not the right way. Does that make sense? I just stumbled across this post on another person's blog about gluten. I think I might investigate it a little more now.

ON THE OTHER HAND----I really do love all those gluten-full foods. I'm seriously a bread girl. I love bread. ADORE it. Don't know if I could give it up.
Same for me but I feel so different since I stopped. I mean being intolerant is not like being allergic.
If you're allergic it can only go from bad to worse so you should NEVER eat any piece of it.
Being intolerant to gluten is different. It may last all your life but it also may only last a few years or even less.
What I find interesting also is that I can perceive better the taste of some food since I am not eating gluten therefore I enjoy it better. I did not think it would be a positive side effect.
What is crazy is that gluten is everywhere. I mean in the least place you'd expect it such as meat or snacks that are supposed to involve only peanuts and salt. I have also come across something interesting for those who are intolerant to gluten because just like for cholesterol there is a good and a bad one. The good one helps recover from the damages of the bad one. I don't know if I am ready to try this out on myself to figure out if it is true or not but I will definitely investigate more.
